RiVE instructions guideline


Step 1: For the RiVE hardware device, the only thing you need to do is plug into a USB port in your car (for faster charging, plug it into a USB adapter in the cigarette port). That’s it!


Step 2: Download the RiVE app


Step 3: Sign in to the app with your account (if you created a profile when purchasing online) or sign up


Step 4: Follow the registration instructions prompts on the RiVE app (to ensure RiVE works properly, please accept all app permissions)


Step 5: Connect the RiVE device cable to you phone. Your phone will start charging. You will see a prompt (look up/insert actual prompt writing). Select default. Moving forward, every time you connect, RiVEmode will launch automatically


Step 6: You are good to go. Drive safely!

FAQ


Q: Am I able to use a navigation app when using RiVE?


A: Yes, when in RiVEmode, a simple swipe right will launch your preferred navigation app. You are able to select the default navigation app in your RiVE app settings
Settings → Apps → Music → Select desired app → Save.


Q: Am I able to use a music app when using RiVE?


A: Yes, when in RiVEmode, swipe left to launch the default music app. You can change your preferred music app at any point the app settings-- other than when you are driving, of course! Go to Settings → Apps → Music → Select desired app → Save


Q: If I access navigation/music while in RiVEmode, how do I get back to RiVEmode?


A: For the Android platform, the RiVE logo will pop up on the screen over your music or maps app. Clicking on the logo will take you back to RiVEmode.


Q: Am I able to receive or answer phone calls when using RiVE?


A: Yes, both incoming and outgoing phone calls will remain available. We advise using any hands-free options, such as using your car’s Bluetooth ® for phone calls.


Q: Help! I can't make any phone calls while in RiVEmode!


A: For your safety, the only way to make outgoing phone calls is to use a hands-free system like your car's Bluetooth ®.


Q: I’m worried that I’ll miss out on important information from my boss, co-workers, family members, significant other, etc. while using RiVE


A: There is no need to worry. If someone texts you while you’re in RiVEmode, an automated text response will be sent to the sender. If it’s time sensitive, they can give you a call!


Q: Am I able to turn off auto-responses?


A: While the auto-response feature is on by default, you are able to turn it off if you'd like.

In your account, under Settings, unselect the Use auto-reply toggle and then click Save.



In the app:

Select SettingsAuto-reply. Unselect the Use auto-reply toggle and then click Save.



Q: Am I able to customize the auto-response text message?


A: Customization of the auto-response is available for Premium RiVE users.


In the website:

In your account, under Settings, update the message field, and then click Save.



In the app:

Select SettingsAuto-reply. Update the message field, and then click Save.



Q: How can I see if my family is using RiVE while driving, for example, my children?


A: With Premium, you can see the driving history of other members in your groups. To see their driving history:


In the website:

Go to your account, under Group Management, select the group, then click the more_vert icon and select See driving history.



In the app:

Go to Group ManagementSelect Group → Click on individual’s name



Q: How can I create a group?


A: Group creation is only available to RiVE Premium users. To create a group:


In the website:

Go to your account, under Group Management, click the Create Group button



In the app:

Go to Group Management → Tap the group add button group_add → Click on individual’s name



Q: What is the beeping noise coming from the device when I drive?


A: If you hear a sound coming from the RiVE device, that indicates you have not connected the RiVE device to your phone. Just like your car beeps if the driver has not buckled his/her seatbelt, the RiVE unit will beep to remind you to connect your phone. Once connected, the beeping will stop.


Q: What does the LED light on the RiVE device indicate?


A: RiVE uses a simple light indicator to inform the driver if the unit is properly connectected to the phone. Red indicates that the phone is not connected to the device and green means you are good to go


Q: My device is connected to my phone but the LED light is red and the RiVEmode app screen hasn’t popped up, why is that?


A: More likely than not, that means the RiVE unit is not connected to the car. If it is, unplug and plug the RiVE unit back into the car to reset the device. If the LED light remains red and the RiVEmode app screen doesn’t automatically launch, please contact us


Q: How do I use RiVE when I drive?


A: RiVE is truly a replacement for your car charger. Make sure the RiVE unit is connected to the USB port in your car and then plug it in to your phone like you would any other charger. Then the RiVEapp will launch automatically, seamlessly providing a safe and distraction-free drive!


Q: What do I do if I don’t have a USB port in my car?


A: All cars have a cigarette lighter plug. You can purchase a separate cigarette-to-USB adapter.


Q: Do I have to take my phone case off to use RiVE?


A: The RiVE clip end of the cable is uniquely designed to accommodate most phone cases regardless of size..


Q: How do I get RiVEmode to launch automatically when I connect the RiVE unit to my phone?


A: On the Android platform, the first time you connect the RiVE unit to your phone, a pop-up prompt will read Open RiVE when this USB accessory is connected?. Select the empty box next to Use by default for this USB accessory, then click okay. This will ensure that RiVEmode launches automatically when you connect the cable to your phone.


Q: Why does the RiVE cable clip cover the phone’s main buttons?


A: This frees you from the temptation and ability to click your phone’s buttons, and thus is a physical deterrent to use your phone while driving. It also prevents access to any potentially dangerous driving behavior.


Q: My phone doesn’t seem to be charging when drive


A: Unfortunately, car manufacturers don’t provide enough voltage in the built-in USB ports to provide full charging capability. For faster charging, connect the RiVE cable to a USB adapter in your cigarette port.
